Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-07-22

The agreement

These terms form an agreement between you and NumKnit, a mobile application operated by an independent developer based in Japan, reachable at [email protected]. By using the app or numknit.com you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

What NumKnit does

NumKnit turns the measurements and gauge you enter into a knitting chart and a written pattern, with a row counter to follow your progress. The app is free to use and is funded by advertising.

Your account

Generating charts requires signing in with a Google account. You are responsible for keeping access to that account secure, and for the activity carried out through it. You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings; deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Your content and the charts you generate

The measurements you enter, the photos you import and the colourwork designs you create remain yours. The charts and written patterns NumKnit generates for you are yours to use freely, including for garments you sell. You do not need our permission and you owe us nothing for them.

You are responsible for having the right to use any image you import into the app.

The app itself

The app, its interface, its source code and the NumKnit name remain ours. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own knitting. You may not copy, decompile or resell the app, use it to build a competing service, interfere with its operation, or access our service by automated means or in a way that places an unreasonable load on it.

Advertising

The app displays advertising, including banners and full-screen ads shown when a chart is generated or when the app is opened. Your choices about personalised advertising are described in our Privacy Policy.

No guarantee of fit or results

A knitting chart is a calculation based on the numbers you provide. Yarn, needles, tension, blocking and personal knitting style all affect the finished garment. NumKnit does not guarantee that a garment knitted from a generated chart will match the intended measurements or fit, and we recommend knitting and measuring a gauge swatch before you start. Please check the chart against your own judgement before casting on.

Availability

We provide the app as it is and as it is available. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, or the service as a whole, and we may stop making the app available in a given country. Your projects are stored on your device, so they remain accessible in the app as long as it is installed.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost yarn, materials, time or profit, or for garments that do not turn out as expected.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law. If you use NumKnit as a consumer, you keep all the mandatory rights granted to you by the law of your country of residence, including the statutory rights of consumers in the European Union and the United Kingdom, and these terms do not affect them.

Ending the agreement

You may stop using NumKnit at any time by deleting your account and uninstalling the app. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, or where we are required to do so by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Japan. If you use NumKnit as a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings before the courts of that country.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the app evolves. The date at the top of this page always shows the current version, and significant changes will be made visible in the app before they take effect. Questions go to [email protected].

Language

These terms are published in every language NumKnit supports. If there is any inconsistency between versions, the English version prevails.
